CHARLES LECLERC BREAKS SILENCE AS LEWIS HAMILTON CONTINUES CRITICISM

The tension between Ferrari teammates Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton has taken another interesting turn after the Monegasque driver finally addressed their growing disagreement following the controversial clash at the Mexico City Grand Prix.

While Hamilton has continued to express his frustration over the incident, Leclerc appears determined to put the disagreement behind him, insisting that the situation has been settled following discussions within the Ferrari camp.

The latest development comes at a crucial moment for Ferrari as the team prepares for the São Paulo Grand Prix, with growing attention surrounding the relationship between its two high-profile drivers.

THE MEXICAN GRAND PRIX CLASH THAT SPARKED THE CONTROVERSY

The disagreement between the Ferrari drivers began during the opening lap of the Mexico City Grand Prix.

Hamilton started the race from pole position and was determined to maintain his advantage. However, Leclerc launched an aggressive challenge as the two teammates battled for position heading into Turn 4.

Neither driver managed to negotiate the corner cleanly, and the incident ultimately created an opportunity for Max Verstappen to move ahead of Hamilton.

Leclerc subsequently received a five-second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage.

What initially appeared to be an ordinary racing battle quickly developed into a major talking point, particularly after Hamilton made his frustration clear following the race.

The seven-time world champion believed Ferrari had potentially thrown away an opportunity to secure a one-two finish because of the incident.

HAMILTON REFUSES TO BACK DOWN

Rather than allowing the controversy to disappear, Hamilton continued discussing the situation ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The British driver questioned Leclerc’s approach to racing against him, suggesting that his teammate appeared to compete more aggressively against fellow Ferrari drivers than against competitors from other teams.

Hamilton also referenced Leclerc’s previous battles with Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz, suggesting that similar situations had occurred during those partnerships.

When asked whether he believed Leclerc raced him harder than other drivers, Hamilton answered in the affirmative.

He also made it clear that he had no intention of withdrawing his earlier comments.

Hamilton insisted that he was simply expressing his genuine feelings and would not allow himself to be silenced.

His comments added another layer to the growing tension, particularly because both drivers are expected to work together if Ferrari hopes to challenge for championship success.

LECLERC FINALLY RESPONDS

After missing Thursday’s media commitments in Brazil following the birth of his first child, Leclerc finally had an opportunity to address the controversy.

Unlike Hamilton, who continued expressing his dissatisfaction, the Ferrari driver adopted a noticeably calmer approach.

Leclerc revealed that discussions had taken place and suggested that the disagreement had already been resolved.

“Obviously, there’s been a lot of things, probably too much things in the last week,” Leclerc explained.

“We’ve spoken. I think everything is settled, and I’m looking forward for the rest of the weekend.”

His response suggests that he does not want the disagreement to become a prolonged distraction for Ferrari.

Leclerc’s comments also indicate that the two drivers have at least begun addressing their differences behind closed doors.

However, Hamilton’s continued criticism means the situation remains one of the biggest talking points surrounding the Italian team.

FERRARI BOSS STEPS IN AS TENSION GROWS

Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has also been involved in addressing the disagreement.

Vasseur confirmed that discussions with both drivers took place on Thursday evening ahead of the São Paulo Grand Prix.

Although he refused to reveal the details of their conversation, he made it clear that the team’s interests must come before individual ambitions.

The Ferrari boss also explained that he was not expecting Hamilton and Leclerc to become best friends.

Instead, his priority is ensuring that both drivers maintain a professional relationship and work together towards the team’s objectives.

Vasseur acknowledged that Ferrari had collectively failed to maximise its opportunity in Mexico and stressed the importance of learning from the incident.

With thousands of employees working behind the scenes, he believes both drivers must understand that their personal battles cannot come at the expense of the entire organisation.

A BIGGER PROBLEM FOR FERRARI?

Although Leclerc appears ready to move forward, Hamilton’s comments have raised questions about how comfortable the partnership could become in the future.

Hamilton joined Ferrari in 2025 with enormous expectations, hoping to add another championship to his already remarkable career.

Leclerc, meanwhile, has been part of Ferrari’s long-term plans since joining the team in 2019.

Both drivers are ambitious, highly competitive and determined to deliver success for the Scuderia.

That combination can produce spectacular results, but it can also create difficult situations when teammates find themselves competing for the same positions.

Hamilton has made it clear that he wants changes that will help Ferrari become a stronger championship contender.

Leclerc, on the other hand, has demonstrated that he is not prepared to surrender opportunities on track simply because he is competing against his teammate.

Their ability to find common ground could become increasingly important as Ferrari looks towards the next championship campaign.

ALL EYES ON THE BRAZILIAN GRAND PRIX

With the disagreement now seemingly addressed behind closed doors, attention turns to how both drivers will perform at Interlagos.

The Brazilian Grand Prix provides another opportunity for Ferrari to demonstrate that the situation has not affected its overall performance.

Leclerc has publicly indicated that he considers the matter settled, but Hamilton’s earlier comments suggest that he still wants greater clarity regarding how the team manages battles between its drivers.

For Ferrari supporters, the biggest question is whether the two champions can put their differences aside and deliver the results the team desperately needs.

One thing is certain: the relationship between Hamilton and Leclerc will remain under close observation.

And with both drivers fighting for their place at the front, Ferrari may have to find the perfect balance between allowing its stars to race and protecting the team’s championship ambitions.
