A new report has made a series of allegations about Phil Mickelson’s conduct away from the golf course, with interviews from 19 sources describing alleged incidents of inappropriate behavior spanning several years.
According to the report, multiple individuals accused the six-time major champion of making unwanted advances, using lewd language, and engaging in behavior that allegedly contributed to his departure from more than one private golf club. The report claims the accounts came from current and former members, employees, and individuals familiar with the alleged incidents.
Among the allegations revisited is a previously reported claim involving Ashley Perez, the former wife of fellow professional golfer Pat Perez. Ashley alleges that during the 2015 Barclays tournament week, Mickelson showed her an explicit photograph of himself and made inappropriate advances. She said Mickelson later apologized for the incident. Pat Perez has previously commented publicly that there was a line that was “uncrossable and unforgivable,” though he has not publicly discussed the matter in detail.
The latest report has renewed scrutiny of Mickelson’s personal conduct, prompting widespread discussion throughout the golf community. While some have questioned the seriousness of the allegations and called for further accountability, others have urged caution, noting that many of the claims remain disputed and have not been tested in court.
Mickelson, through his attorney, strongly disputed many of the allegations. In a statement responding to the report, his legal representative said:
“Some of the allegations circulating about Mr. Mickelson are false, and others revisit mistakes he has already acknowledged, publicly or privately.”
The statement went on to say that Mickelson’s primary focus is “to become the husband, father, and man his family deserves,” while also requesting privacy as his family deals with an ongoing health matter.
The allegations come during a period in which Mickelson has remained one of golf’s most recognizable figures through his involvement with LIV Golf. Although his on-course achievements have cemented his place among the sport’s all-time greats, the latest report has shifted attention away from competition and toward questions surrounding his conduct off the course.
At this stage, no criminal charges have been announced in connection with the allegations described in the report. Mickelson continues to deny many of the claims, while acknowledging that some relate to past mistakes for which he has previously apologized.
As the story develops, attention is likely to remain focused on whether additional evidence or responses emerge from those involved. For now, the report has generated significant discussion across the golfing world while leaving many questions unanswered.
