Which LIV Golf Players Are Facing the Axe in 2025?

With just two events left in the 2025 LIV Golf season, several names on the leaderboard are in imminent danger of being axed from the league, should they fail to climb into the safety zone.

Only the top 24 in the individual standings are guaranteed their cards for next season. Those finishing 49th or below face automatic relegation—or, in GolfMagic’s terminology, being axed.

Who’s on the chopping block?

Ian Poulter leads the list. The former Ryder Cup star is currently 51st, with just 4.5 points, and needs two strong finishes in Chicago and Indianapolis to avoid being axed.

Henrik Stenson, sitting in 47th with roughly 5.52 points, is also dangerously close—his season has offered few highlights and he’s still in danger of the axe.

Other players edging perilously close include Chieh‑Po Lee (49th), Mito Pereira, Yubin Jang, Fredrik Kjettrup, and Anthony Kim—wildcard status aside, finishing below 49th would leave them benched for 2026.

The deadline to avoid the axe is fast approaching. Final events in Chicago (Aug 8–10) and Indianapolis (Aug 15–17) are make-or-break: one slip and a LIV Golf career could be over—unless players secure a return route via the International Series or Promotions event.
