Why did Michael Thorbjornsen withdraw from Black Desert Championship?

Michael Thorbjornsen withdrew from the 2024 Black Desert Championship after playing a few holes in the second round. The American golfer struggled with a knee injury during the second round of the event on Friday, 11 October, and was forced to quit midway.

Michael Thorbjornsen started well at the PGA Tour event, shooting 4-under 67 in the first round. He began his campaign on the first tee hole with a birdie, adding two more birdies on the front nine. He also carded two birdies, along with a bogey, a double bogey, and an eagle on the back nine, to score 67 on Thursday.In the second round, Thorbjornsen started on the tenth hole, carding a bogey on the 11th and a birdie on the 12th. He shot two birdies, two bogeys, and a double bogey on the first eight holes. However, he withdrew from the competition on the 18th hole.

Ryan McCormick also withdrew from the competition during the second round on Friday. He made three birdies on the front nine and a quadruple bogey on the 11th before withdrawing from the competition.McCormick shot 72 in the opening round with two birdies, a bogey, and a double bogey. He had a good start to the second round but struggled on the 11th, ultimately withdrawing due to a wrist injury.

Meanwhile, on day one, J.B. Holmes withdrew from the competition. He was struggling with a back injury and opted to quit after playing only eight holes. He carded two bogeys on Thursday before withdrawing from the event.

Meanwhile, play was suspended due to darkness again on Friday, and some players are yet to complete their rounds. Stephan Jaeger was leading when play was suspended during the second round on Friday, having completed his round with a 63 to take a one-stroke lead.The second round will resume on Saturday, October 12, at 10:15 a.m. ET. After the second round, only the players making the cut will tee off for the third round.
