Many track and field fans remember Sydney McLaughlin from her impressive gold medal wins at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

Now, she will be looking to add to her Olympic medal coffers as Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone.

McLaughlin-Levrone was married in 2022 and has been competing under her adapted surname ever since. She is once again set to star in the 400-meter races at the 2024 Olympics, and her husband should be cheering her on heartily from the crowd.

But who is McLaughlin-Levrone’s husband? Here’s what to know about the former NFL athlete as the spotlight once again shines on his uber-talented wife.

Who is Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s husband?
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s husband is Andre Levrone, who — like his wife — is an athlete.

Levrone played football for four years at Virginia from 2014 to 2017. The 6-3, 225-pound wide-out posted modest numbers but managed to carve out a few NFL opportunities for himself before leaving the league ahead of the 2019 season.

Sydney McLaughlin, Andre Levrone relationship timeline
Levrone met McLaughlin after exchanging messages with her on social media. She detailed in her book that he slid into her DM’s after she posted a picture to her social media accounts.

“One day, I posted a selfie with the caption ‘Attention,’ a reference to a song I’d been listening to,” she wrote, per People.

Levrone then crafted a perfect response to the picture, “You have my attention. How can I get yours?”

Eventually, the pair began to date. McLaughlin knew right away that Levrone would be the one. Levrone told People he was 100 percent sure they would get married after going on three dates, according to People.

Sure enough, they did. They tied the knot in May 2022, nine months after the pair were engaged in August 2021.

Now, McLaughlin describes Levrone as her “biggest hype man” and credits his experience as an athlete for drawing them closer together.

“I’m so grateful for Andre because he understands the athlete life, the day-to-day, what it takes, and all the little things,” McLaughlin told People. “We’re very similar just in how we’re wired because of that, which helps us understand each other.”

Andre Levrone college stats
Levrone played four years of college football at Virginia. He played sparingly across his first few seasons while dealing with injuries before emerging as a starter in 2017.

Levrone served as a top target for Kurt Benkert as a senior, catching 34 passes for 689 yards and a team-high seven touchdown receptions. Only Olamide Zaccheaus outpaced him in receiving yardage but Levrone’s 20.3 yards per catch ranked best on the team by a wide margin over Doni Dowling’s 12.9.

Did Andre Levrone get drafted?
Levrone’s production and size drew attention to him as a potential NFL talent. He entered the 2018 NFL Draft but was not selected by any team.

A week after the draft, Levrone signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent. That began his NFL journey as he looked to carve out a niche for himself at the professional level.

Levrone never played in an NFL game, but he played nine preseason games across two seasons with the Ravens and Panthers. He caught eight passes for 86 yards in those contests, and all of his catches came during his time in Carolina.
