Tiger Woods announces end of 27-year partnership with Nike, hints at ‘another chapter’

The 15-time major champion has worn Nike apparel since his professional debut in 1996.

The legendary partnership between Tiger Woods and Nike is officially over.

  Woods, who has worn Nike apparel since his professional golf debut in 1996, shared the news in a social media statement  Monday morning.

“More than 27 years ago, I was fortunate to begin a partnership with one of the most famous brands in the world,” said Woods, 48.

“The days since then have been filled with so many great moments and memories that it would take forever to start naming them.Phil Knight’s passion and vision led Nike and Nike Golf to This led to a partnership, and I would like to personally thank him and the Nike employees and amazing athletes I have had the pleasure of working with.

People will ask if there will be another chapter.
Yes, there is definitely a next chapter.
See you in LA!

” Nike responded by sharing a message  with a photo of Woods in his customary fist pump, wearing a red Nike shirt and a black Nike hat.

“Tiger, you have challenged  competition, stereotypes, convention, and old ways of thinking.

They have challenged the entire world of golf.
” You challenged us.

  Nike’s post includes a photo and the words: “One hell of a round, Tiger.

” , After turning professional, he immediately signed a contract with Nike.

He has signed multiple contract extensions with the brand, including the latest 10-year deal, which expires at the end of 2023.

Of course, there was an iconic moment when Woods was all wearing Nike gear.

From his 15-stroke victory at Pebble Beach in 2000 to his Tiger Slam, single-leg victory and  most recent victory at the 2019 Masters, Woods has always worn Nike.

  Woods hasn’t announced his next move, but in Monday’s message, he said, “It’s definitely the beginning of the next chapter,” with a side note: “See you in LA” at the Genesis Invitational.

He had indicated that he would participate.
It will be held at Riviera Country Club from February 15th to 18th.

Woods last played professionally from November 30th to December.

He took third place at the Hero World Challenge, marking his return to golf for the first time in about eight months.

He withdrew in the third round of the Masters last April and underwent surgery on his ankle  two weeks later.

In December, Woods expressed his desire to play in one tournament a month in 2024.

Thanks to his 2019 Masters win, he is exempt from competing in the Players Championship in March, which is scheduled for April 11-14.
