Perez received a 5-second time penalty for a false start, as he overstepped his starting grid. Besides this, he drove Lawson and Lance Stroll off the track during the race and damaged his car.
During his on-track skirmish against Lawson, he pushed the young New Zealander off the track, slammed him on the team radio, and termed him an “idiot.”
However, it wasn’t long before Lawson came hunting down and overtook the Mexican driver. While he was passing the Red Bull driver, he showed him the middle finger.
The Mexican driver seemingly did not have a answer to that. In the end, Perez finished the race in P17. Lawson finished a place ahead in P16.

Following the conclusion of the United States Grand Prix at COTA last weekend, paddock chatter suggested that Red Bull could sack Sergio Perez in the coming weeks. However, the team snubbed all rumors since it was the Guadalajara-born driver’s home race in Mexico.
Now, after two underwhelming performances in qualifying and the main race, that too at his home Grand Prix, Red Bull may look to make finding a resolution to Perez’s situation a priority.
Thanks to Carlos Sainz’s victory and Charles Leclerc’s P3, Ferrari snatched P2 in the constructors’ championship standings from Red Bull.
McLaren continues to lead the championship with 566 points. Ferrari is in P2 with 537 points, followed by Red Bull at 512 points.
