Scottie Scheffler secured his third major championship title with a dominant performance at the 2025 PGA Championship, finishing five shots ahead at 11 under par. This marked his first major win outside the Masters and continued his impressive run, earning him $3.42 million and further solidifying his position at the top of the world rankings.

The PGA of America announced that the players in the 2025 PGA Championship field at Quail Hollow were playing for a record $19 million, a bump of $500,000 from a year ago at Valhalla Golf Club. That also included an increase in the first-place prize money payout. Last year Xander Schauffele banked $3.33 million for his victory. This year, Scottie Scheffler took home $3.42 million after shooting a final-round 71 to end at 11-under-par 273 total, good for a five-shot victory over Harris English, Bryson DeChambeau and Davis Riley.

Scheffler, 28, compiled an 11-under 273 aggregate score to win his 15th career PGA Tour title and collect $3.42 million from a record purse of $19 million. He became the first player since Seve Ballesteros in 1983 to win each of his first three majors by three or more strokes.

The PGA Championship now comes in third in terms of largest purse among the four men’s golf majors. The U.S. Open handed out $21.5 million in 2024 while the Masters increased its purse to $21 million in April. The Open Championship paid out $17 million at Royal Troon in 2024.

Scheffler’s victory also came with a record-breaking $3.42 million from the $19 million purse, the highest in tournament history. The win grants him significant professional advantages, including 100 Official World Golf Rankings points, 750 FedEx Cup points, and lifetime PGA Championship entry. Additionally, he earns five-year exemptions to the remaining three majors, The Players Championship, and a five-year PGA Tour membership, along with a seven-year DP World Tour card.

Scheffler’s win continues his stellar 2025 season and strengthens the U.S. presence ahead of the Ryder Cup, where many European hopefuls underperformed.
