Donovan Mitchell Had Words for Tyrese Haliburton After Pacers Eliminate Cavaliers

In a stunning conclusion to their Eastern Conference Semifinals series, the Indiana Pacers eliminated the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers with a 114–105 victory in Game 5. Tyrese Haliburton led the Pacers with 31 points and eight assists, orchestrating a remarkable comeback from a 19-point deficit. Pascal Siakam contributed 21 points, while Andrew Nembhard added 18 points and six assists.

Despite Donovan Mitchell’s valiant effort, scoring 35 points and grabbing nine rebounds, the Cavaliers were unable to secure a win. Mitchell played through ankle and calf injuries, demonstrating his commitment and leadership.  However, the Cavaliers struggled with shooting, particularly from beyond the arc, finishing just 25.7% from three-point range.

The Pacers’ victory marks their second consecutive trip to the Eastern Conference Finals, showcasing the team’s growth and resilience.  They now await the outcome of the series between the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks to determine their next opponent.

For the Cavaliers, the loss brings an end to a season that saw them achieve a 64–18 regular-season record, the best in the NBA. Head coach Kenny Atkinson acknowledged Indiana’s superior performance and expressed disappointment in the season’s outcome.  The team now faces an offseason of reflection and potential changes to enhance their postseason success.

As the Pacers advance, their focus shifts to capturing an NBA championship, with coach Rick Carlisle emphasizing belief and opportunity in a wide-open league.
