The PGA Tour holds the integrity of the game above all else. All players are expected to demonstrate the highest levels of sportsmanship, honesty, and respect for the Rules of Golf.
Following a thorough investigation into the actions of Ben Griffin and Andrew Novak during the Zurich Classic, the PGA Tour has determined that both players committed serious violations of the Rules of Golf, undermining the principles of fair competition.
The investigation revealed multiple infractions, including:
Improper ball placement after marking on the green.
Failure to accurately report penalty strokes.
Collusion to knowingly overlook each other’s rule breaches during team play.
These actions represent a direct breach of the Tour’s Code of Conduct and a serious violation of the trust placed in players by fellow competitors, tournament organizers, and fans around the world.
As a result, effective immediately, both Ben Griffin and Andrew Novak have been suspended from participating in any PGA Tour-sanctioned events for an indefinite period. This suspension includes exclusion from upcoming tournaments, notably the Wells Fargo Championship and the PGA Championship.
The PGA Tour remains committed to protecting the values that make golf a uniquely honorable sport. We will continue to enforce the highest standards to ensure a level playing field for all competitors.
Further disciplinary proceedings are ongoing, and additional sanctions may be imposed pending the final review.
