Keegan Bradley makes surprising Announcement about Ryder Cup

Keegan Bradley will lead Team USA for the 2025 Ryder Cup at the Bethpage Black Course. The 2025 Ryder Cup will be played from September 23 to 25, with Team Europe’s skipper, Luke Donald, looking to defend the title.

Team USA captain Keegan Bradley is the second-youngest skipper after the legendary Arnold Palmer. Bradley will take up the role as a playing captain at the age of 38, while Palmer did it at the age of 34 in 1963.
Recently, Bradley was asked about being a playing captain for the upcoming Ryder Cup. According to Golf Digest, he said that his focus currently is on building a strong team.

“I have a real shot at doing this, but right now, I’m just focused on getting my guys ready,” answered Bradley.

Being a Ryder Cup skipper isn’t easy as there are plenty of things to consider before the tournament to select a formidable team. During the event, the captain has to take a call and make tactical changes if required in the pairings, depending on the form and playing conditions.

Therefore, we usually see non-playing captains in the Ryder Cup. However, Team USA has decided to change this perception and have a playing skipper.

“I was crushed” – Keegan Bradley on how he felt after missing out on 2023 Ryder Cup
Keegan Bradley missed out on the 2023 Ryder Cup as the skipper Zach Johnson did not consider him for the captain’s picks. Hence, he was naturally disappointed but said he cheered for the Americans and backed them to win the Ryder Cup.

“I was crushed. It took us a while to get over that. Our whole family. We were devastated. But I’m American. I root for the Americans to win the Ryder Cup. I watch whether I’m playing or whether I’m not. I know all the guys on the team, and I bleed red, white, and blue,” Bradley said during the Ryder Cup press conference in July.

However, he added that he understands it was a tough decision as a captain for Johnson, and he has nothing but respect for all those golfers who competed in the 2023 Ryder Cup.

“Now, sitting here as the captain, I kind of have a different perspective of what he was going through. Because I’ve only been the captain for two weeks, and I’m finding myself staring at the ceiling at 2 a.m. thinking about every single situation. So, I have a different perspective now, and I have nothing but admiration and respect for Zach Johnson,” Bradley concluded.
