“Please pray” – John Daly says his family is ‘struggling,’ appeals to fans amid ‘devastation’

John Daly recently took to X to appeal to his fans for the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. The 58-year-old golfer urged fans to ‘pray without ceasing’ for everyone impacted by the hurricane.

Daly’s plea came after PGA Tour Champions posted a video with Daly in which he highlighted the toll his family has taken because of the hurricane. In the video, the 58-year-old said that three homes belonging to his family and friends have been lost in the natural disaster. Daly quoted the video post and wrote:
“Please pray without ceasing for everyone that has suffered and ask that God restore their lives! My family is struggling right now from this devastation”

John Daly explained the extent of devastation and said (via PGA Tour Champions):
“It was bad. I mean I feel for everybody. I’m surprised we didn’t lose more people. But it’s sad for the ones that we did. And it’s devastating. It’s the worst I’ve ever seen. Hope everybody gets safe and gets their homes back. But my heart goes out to everybody.”

Hurricane Helene is a category 4 storm that made landfall on Florida’s Big Bend coast last Thursday. As per the Guardian, more than 200 people have lost their lives because of the carnage and destruction caused by the hurricane. BBC has called it the ‘deadliest mainland storm since Katrina in 2005.’John Daly further said:
“We’re going to have to do about three and a half homes, almost four. I just haven’t gone back into mine, I’ve restructured it and fixed it. I haven’t been in it in two years, get all the stuff in there and then it’s all gone. Anna’s Mom lost her house. Matty’s burned down yesterday morning and Chrissy, she had to get a boat to get hers. So they’re all pretty much gone.”

The venue of the Masters, the Augusta National Golf Club has taken a toll too because of the hurricane. The course’s chairman Fred Ridley has given a statement saying that the iconic course has had “a lot of damage.”He said (via Fox Sports):
“I was in Augusta in the days immediately after the storm and have seen firsthand its devastating impact. As far as the golf course, it really was affected just as the rest of the community was. There was a lot of damage and we have a lot of people working hard to get us back up-and-running.”
The extent of the carnage at Augusta National Golf Club can be seen in the video below:
