PGA Tour star in shock split on eve of Presidents Cup
United States Presidents Cup player and PGA Tour star Max Homa confirms he has split with his golf coach on the eve of the Presidents Cup.
PGA Tour star Max Homa has confirmed he has split with golf coach Mark Blackburn on the eve of the Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal in Canada.
Homa, 33, is competing on Jim Furyk’s United States Presidents Cup team this week after being handed one of six captain’s picks in the side.
Many fans consider Homa can count himself the most fortunate of all the picks given he has been heavily out of form in recent months.
On the flip side, Homa has been rock solid in his last two appearances at the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup.
Homa went unbeaten at the 2022 Presidents Cup and 2023 Ryder Cup, taking seven and half points from a possible nine.
The American had been working with his swing coach Blackburn since the 2020 US Open.
During their time together, Homa won five of his six career PGA Tour titles.
But Homa has not picked up a single top-10 finish in his last 10 events, and he has decided to call for change.
As a result he has slipped from seventh in the world starting this season to a current 25th.
The six-time PGA Tour winner told reporters ahead of the Presidents Cup that he decided to end his partnership with Blackburn month.

Homa very much considers Blackburn a family friend but the decision was made to ‘take more ownership’ of his golf swing.
“I love Mark,” said Homa.
Homa’s caddie Joe Greiner will now also work as a second set of eyes on his swing at this week’s Presidents Cup in Canada.
He is also sending swing videos to a friend for his opinion, too.
The United States are seeking a 10th consecutive victory at the Presidents Cup this week.
