Gary Player confirms he has a new girlfriend

Golf legend Gary Player, at 89 years old, has found new love following the passing of his wife, Vivienne, in August 2021. Player recently confirmed his relationship with New York native Susan Waterfall, whom he affectionately nicknames “Tsunami Susan.”

Player shared that his friends and family encouraged him to meet Susan, and their connection has brought renewed joy into his life. He remarked, “It’s wonderful. Boy, it’s changed my life. You’ve got to have love in your life. We’re all searching for it.”

Susan shares Player’s passion for golf and fitness, complementing his dedication to daily workouts. Their companionship has inspired Player to aim for longevity, expressing a desire to live to 100. He noted, “It’s nice to have a companion, you know? It keeps you young.”

This new chapter in Player’s life underscores the universal human need for love and companionship, regardless of age. As he continues to engage in the sport he loves, his relationship with Susan adds a vibrant dimension to his enduring legacy in the golfing world.

Multiple major champion Gary Player has confirmed romance is back in his life. 

The 89-year-old was married to his beloved wife Vivienne for 64 years. 

Together, they raised six children: Jennifer, Marc, Wayne, Michele, Theresa and Amanda. 
They were also blessed with 22 grandchildren and two-great grandchildren.

Sadly, Vivienne passed away on 18 August 2021 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. 

Player confirmed to Golf Digest before teeing it up in the PNC Championship that he is seeing someone new. 

“It’s wonderful,” Player told GD. “Boy, it’s changed my life,”
 “You’ve got to have love in your life. We’re all searching for it.”

Player said he took some convincing by friends and family to meet with the woman, whom the hall of famer has nicknamed ‘Tsunami Susan’. 
“So when I did finally get to meet her, I thought she was wonderful,” he said. 

“So I said to her, ‘I’m looking for an American girlfriend.’ She didn’t answer me. But two days later she came back to me and said, ‘I’d like to be your American girlfriend.’

Player said she loves golf and keeping fit in the gym.

Over the years, Player has claimed he keeps himself in shape by doing more than 1,000 sit-ups every day. 

Player told the publication the new romance has given him motivation to try and live until he is 100 years old. 
He said: “It’s nice to have a companion, you know? It keeps you young. 
“We’re darn lucky when we find it. You can’t live without love, and I just wish the whole world embraced that. Think how much better off we’d all be.”
